Project Information

Christchurch’s Hagley Cricket Oval was chosen to host a number of the 2015 Cricket World Cup Matches. This required the erection of an extensive temporary stadium.

The contract was under immense time constraints, due to the close proximity of the opening match being held at the stadium and a short window of time between construction of the stadium and the deadline for the anchoring to be completed.

Platipus S8 Anchors were required to be installed and tested to achieve 40kN per anchor point. These were then connected to the structure with tensioned strops.

Cirtex was comminsioned by City Care Ltd to supply the Platipus Earth Anchors, installation and testing gear and provide training and support throughout the project.

Cirtex fast tracked the supply of anchors from the UK based manufacturer, oversaw the delivery, installation and testing of the anchors inside the 10 day time frame allowed for the installation, testing and connecting the anchors to the structure.

With an appointed a project manager at Cirtex to be on call for the duration of the project, it allowed constant contact with the team on site to ensure there was no delays with the program.

The project was a huge success due to the close communication between Cirtex, City Care, the engineer and the Cricket World Cup organisers. This resulted in all involved in the project being extremely happy with the products, constant service and back up provided by Cirtex.
